Today, Nils shares three albums of rare early recordings, which have been unavailable for years and never appeared on streaming services before.⁠

Durton and Streichelfisch – recorded between 2002 and 2005 – will prove a revelation for those who believe Nils only began integrating a wider array of instrumentation into his work with 2013’s Spaces. Electric Piano, meanwhile, was recorded in a single night of improvisations in 2006, and finds him taking his first steps back towards his original instrument.

The three albums reveal a fascinating glimpse into an era of Nils’ work known until now only to diehard and longstanding fans.

Nils announces the re-issue of three albums of rare early recordings, many of which have been unobtainable for years, some of which have never been released at all, and none of which have ever appeared on streaming services.⁠

Durton pairs tracks from 2006’s digital only My First EP with five previously unheard compositions, while Streichelfisch will return to vinyl for the first time since its original 2005 pressing, and Electric Piano contains seven tracks originally released as a download in 2008.⁠

The three albums of remastered early works will be released on vinyl, CD and digitally on April 22. You can listen to the lead single Halm from the Streichelfisch album now on all platforms.

To coincide with this year’s Piano Day, Nils announces a new worldwide tour starting this summer.

Returning to the live stage for the first time since 2019, Nils will appear at the Sydney Opera House in June for the world premiere performance of his forthcoming global tour named Music For. From September, he will be back touring all over Europe, presenting brand-new music moving between the worlds of experimental, ambient, and electronica. More dates in different territories will be added soon.

To celebrate this year’s edition of our favorite holiday, Nils contributed a track to the very first Piano Day compilation, which is out via LEITER today. Piano Day Vol.
